I took a month between jobs. I spent October watching the baseball postseason (GO DODGERS!), hanging out with rock stars, saying goodbye to LA friends, and packing all of my things in boxes.

Moving is stressful. In the week leading up to my move, my left eye started to develop an annoying twitch. I get myokymia, or eye twitch, when I don’t get enough zzzs.

I obviously wasn’t sleeping enough. I started going to bed early and taking lots of naps. Even after sleeping for more than my usual 8 hours of winky-dinky-doos, the twitching wouldn’t go away.

Every morning, the eye spasm began again the moment I woke up. And it continued throughout the day. It was in full twerk mode.

Clearly, this is not from lack of sleep. This was from ragin-full-on stress!
My eye jitter was present all day, everyday, for an entire week. And it was present on move day. The morning of my move, I, along with my tweaky friend, was up early to greet my movers. They carefully packed up everything in my apartment, and 4 hours later, they drove away with all of it.

When I woke the next day, my annoying eye tweaker was gone. Finally. The twitch in my left eye vanished right along with my stuff. The stress I was feeling was from the move.

And with eye jerk finally gone, I packed up the rest of my things – the things I need to survive the next month – in the back of my car and drove to my new place.

Moving sucks. It is frequently ranked as one of life’s most stressful events. I’m happy to be moving on… from moving.
